The Barr Brothers grew up in Providence, so you might call them local, even though they’ve since moved up to Montreal.

But with performances this great, it doesn’t really matter where they’re from ….

“Give The Devil Back His Heart,” from the self-titled lp, just out on Secret City Records.

Brilliant new lp.

Maybe even more sublime than “Sublime.” Sounds great at first, then just keeps sounding better.

“Then It’s White”

Real Estate – Days

October 23, 2011

Brilliant — easily one of the year’s best!

“Out of Tune”

“Younger Than Yesterday”

“Green Aisles”

Knotted Cord is a band with Rebecca Keehner playing all the instruments and doing all the vocals, as far as I can tell.

The full-length, “Polyphonic Beasts Expand in Parallel,” is self-released, which is pretty amazing seeing as how great it is. Noisy and great like early Sonic Youth.

“Daydream With Gravity”

“When You Next Materialize”

“All That You Destroy”

Neptune – Silent Partner

October 20, 2011

Neptune‘s new lp, “Silent Partner.” As noisy and thrilling as ever.

Just one of many excellent new releases on Northern Spy Records.

“Cash Mattress”

Great song off a fine, 5-track EP from Laneous & The Family Yah.

Great video, too!

“Oh She”

Fabric 59 – Jamie Jones

October 8, 2011

Moments of genius abound on this Fabric DJ mix by Jamie Jones. Juxtaposing the old and new, all to great effect.
